There are a lot of awards floating around in the Land of Blog. I saw one the other day with cupcakes in the picture and it was all about sweetness. I doubt if anyone will ever nominate me for that one. I have a tendency to ‘tell it like it is’ which doesn’t always equate with being ‘sweet’.
I’ve been in two minds about these blogging awards. At worst, I see them as a kind of chain letter and I’ve always ignored those in the past. At best, I think of awards as a chance for bloggers to show their appreciation for fellow bloggers’ efforts and let them know they’re doing something right.
Well, I was forced off my comfortable seat on the fence today when another blogger nominated me for an award. So, to accept or not accept, that is the question? I’ve thought about it a bit. Acceptance isn’t a straightforward case of saying ‘Oh, thanks very much – lovely.’ No, I’ve got to do a bit of work and this involves nominating 15 other bloggers whose blogs have brought a little light into my life.
In my opinion, if I didn’t accept, it would be like not returning the smile of a stranger in the street, or turning my back when the hand of friendship is extended in my direction. On top of which, I’d be missing the opportunity of saying ‘well done’ and ‘shine on’ to some of my favourite bloggers. Mmm … I think I’ve made up my mind.
So, without further ado, many thanks to Bee at http://barbmca.wordpress.com for nominating me for the ‘Shine On’ award. I accept!
And then, there’s the small print … I have a wee bit of work to do as part of my acceptance:
(A) Share seven facts about your lovely self:
1. I don’t consider myself ‘lovely’ but I love myself as I am.
2. I never cease to be amazed at the wonders of nature.
3. I need my sleep.
4. I’m tougher than I look.
5. I dream in colour.
6. I love thinking.
7. I believe there is some good in everyone.
Now the easy part:
(B) Nominate 15 other bloggers for this award and be sure to link them back to the awards page:
I’ve done my best to do a ‘girl/boy/girl/boy’ arrangement here, like an e-dinner party. Trouble is, I’m not sure if one of these bloggers is male or female, and we’re a few men short at the end of the table – typical! If you’re on this list, please don’t feel obliged to accept the award – I won’t be offended. I could have nominated way more than 15 of course, but these are the ‘Shine On’ bloggers who always brighten my day if I see them in my WordPress Reader. Check them out:
